Livingston’s local fire departments are in the giving spirit 365, saving lives and helping people stay safe on the roads, but they also thrive on giving back.
Park County Rural Fire Volunteer Fire Fighters Association heads up the Santa on the Fire Truck event every holiday season. Headed by firefighter, Lieutenant Kim Dell of Park County Rural Fire District #1 and Chairperson of the Santa on the Fire Truck Committee, the event impacted her greatly when she was just six years old, for the first time and she is very excited about this years event.
This year the event will start on December 13 at the assisted living and nursing homes and on the 14-16 they will make their way around town into different neighborhoods.
Santa on the fire truck started in the 1990’s and has continued as a traditional route around town where Santa rides on the fire truck, through neighborhoods, saying hello to children, and bringing them gifts, close to Christmas time, according to Dell. Livingston Fire & Rescue also participates in this event.
Dell said that this year the PCRFFA is taking donations for the Santa on the Fire Truck event and boxes were set up on November 1 at Ace Hardware, Albertsons, Murdochs, Bank of the Rockies, City of Livingston office building. They will remain until the end of the first week of December.
“We are asking for new games for ages 4-12+, and toys for 4 and under,” said Dell. “We will also take donations at Park County Rural Fire 304 E Park Street, in Livingston.”
Monetary donations can be made to PCRFDVFFA- Santa, and mailed to or dropped off at 304 E Park St, ATTN Association, Dell said.
