In loving memory of Robert (Bob) Martz who passed away on May 27, 2024 at the age of 83 at home surrounded with family.
Bob was born at home in Livingston on “O” Street on May 12, 1941 to Robert and Wanda (Fifield) Martz.
Bob spent his childhood growing up in Livingston. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force at the age of 15. Upon discharge, he moved on to Oakland, California where he worked for the Alameda County Sheriff’s Dep. as a search and recue diver. He attended four years of trade college and was proud to have completed pilot school. He spent most of his career as a painter, drywaller and carpenter working for Burlington Northern Railroad as a painter and on the B&B crew. He ended his career working for Bechtel Engineering throughout Montana.
On September 8, 1972, he married Claudia Mittelstedter of Livingston. Together they raised seven children: Ross Martz (Beverly) of Billings; Robert II Martz of Oregon; Allen Martz of Helena; Cindy (Freed Bakosh) of Wilsall; Jesse Johnson; Angela Taylor of Bozeman; and Daniel Martz of Livingston. Bob had a great love for the Montana mountains and the great outdoors. Bob enjoyed motorbiking, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, gardening and especially his family. His love and devotion to his family was unsurpassed.
Bob is survived by his wife, Claudia of 53 years, their six children and 18 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert M. Martz and Wanda Bookout; brother, Dallas Martz; sister, Penny Dechedrt; and, son Jesse.
A Pot luck celebration of life will be held Sunday June 9th at 3:00 pm at the family home at 242 Meigs Rd.
